Illustrative order journey
From an order event to a useful answer.
The customer wants to know that their order worked and what happens next. The systems behind the message need to agree on the event, the information and the sender.
01 · Website event
An order reaches the agreed status. Identify it consistently so retries do not create duplicate confirmations.
02 · Message data
Map the order reference, purchased items, totals and support details. Handle missing optional fields without broken content.
03 · Delivery owner
Choose the store or an agreed email service to send the message. Avoid two systems sending the same confirmation.
04 · Customer next step
Explain what happens next and where to get help. Record failures and give the team a way to investigate.
Two jobs, clearly separated
An order confirmation is not an abandoned checkout campaign.
Operational messages respond to a service or transaction. Recovery, product recommendations and win-back messages have a marketing purpose. Plan their content, audience eligibility and delivery rules separately.
Operational
Order confirmations, dispatch updates and account-related messages should make the necessary information easy to find.
Marketing
Recovery and retention flows need their own audience rules, suppression and preferences. Do not treat an order as blanket permission for unrelated promotion.
Design meets integration
Keep the handoff visible to your team.
The scope can include an email inventory, template design, event and field mapping, implementation, delivery checks and a maintenance handover. We assess the existing store emails before deciding what should be replaced.
Your store & platform
Work with the available WooCommerce or other store integration. Klaviyo and Mailchimp capabilities depend on the account, integration and message type; a separate transactional delivery setup may be appropriate.
Failures & duplicate sends
Test repeated events, failed requests and missing fields. Define who receives failure information and how a retry is checked.
A maintainable handover
Document the sender, templates, event source, dependencies and support ownership. Ongoing changes and monitoring can be scoped separately.
Start with the messages you already send
Bring the order journey, not just a logo.
We need the store and email setup, sample messages with personal details removed, order statuses and support process. We’ll agree a test environment and approval checklist before changing delivery.
Let’s build the next touchpoint
Give your next customer a reason to come back.
