Give the right visitor a reason to click.

Draft a description that explains what your page offers. Then make it specific, accurate and useful to the person deciding whether to visit.

Start with the page you want people to find.

Choose New page and enter its primary keyword, with an optional brand or domain. Or choose Existing page and enter its URL, with an optional current description. Generate a starting draft, then check every claim against the page before copying it into your website.

From page facts to useful copy

Specific beats impressive-sounding.

This fictional example shows the editorial work after generation. A keyword can suggest a topic; it cannot verify the business, its service area or its promises.

A draft to question

Melbourne’s number one office cleaners. Guaranteed spotless results at the lowest prices. Book instantly today.

The page does not support the ranking, guarantee, price claim or instant booking. Remove them rather than hoping they are true.

A more useful description

Office cleaning in Melbourne, with regular and after-hours options. Explore what is included and request a quote for your premises.
  1. Name the match

    “Office cleaning in Melbourne”

The service and location help a reader recognise whether the page is relevant.

  2. Add a useful distinction

    “regular and after-hours options”

A concrete detail gives the reader more than a repeated keyword.

  3. Set the next step

“Explore what is included and request a quote”

The invitation matches what someone can actually do on the page.

An editorial example, not a client result or a promise of how a search result will appear.

Before you publish

Would your page keep this promise?

Read the description alongside the page, not in isolation. Keep the useful detail and remove anything that creates the wrong expectation.

  1. Check the facts

Confirm locations, product features, prices, availability and service promises. Replace unsupported superlatives with a specific detail the page demonstrates.

  2. Make this page distinct

Give a service page its own scope. Give a product page its relevant feature. Avoid pasting the same business introduction across every URL.

  3. Match the action

Use “request a quote” if that is the next step. Do not promise a download, purchase or instant booking that the page cannot provide.

  4. Read it as a person

Remove repeated keywords and awkward phrases. Use the character count and preview to review the draft, not as a target worth sacrificing clarity for.

Your questions

A few things to know before copying your draft.

Google’s guidance on search snippets
Will the generator update my website?

No. Review the draft, copy it and save it in the meta description field provided by your website or SEO plugin. Generating a draft here does not publish it.

Will this exact description appear in search?

Not necessarily. Search engines may show text from the page instead, and the snippet can vary with the search. Keep the page content accurate and aligned with the description.

What if the result includes a claim I did not supply?

Remove or correct it. New page mode starts from a keyword and optional brand; it cannot establish the facts of your offer. Existing page mode provides more context, but the draft still needs your review.

Should I use the same meta description on similar pages?

Write around what is distinct and useful on each page. If several pages cannot be described differently, review whether their content and purpose are clear before creating more metadata variations.

Is a meta description length recommendation a strict display limit?

No. Snippet display varies with the search and device. Keep the description concise and useful, put the main point early and avoid adding filler just to reach a target length.

What should I check before publishing a generated description?

Confirm the service or product details, audience and next step against the actual page. Remove unsupported prices, guarantees and superlatives, and make sure the wording gives a reader a truthful reason to visit.

Need a clearer story across your website?

If the description is hard to write because the page itself is unclear, tell us where customers get stuck. We can discuss the content and next step together.
