Analytics & Tracking Setup

Know which activity brings the right enquiries.

Clicks tell you someone was interested. They do not tell you whether a useful conversation followed. We connect your business questions to a practical measurement setup, so your team can make better-informed marketing decisions.

A clearer connection between marketing activity and the conversations your business values.

Define useful before you measure more

What would you do differently if you knew?

Start with a business decision. Then agree the evidence needed to support it. This keeps the setup focused on your team’s work, instead of collecting events that nobody uses.

An example measurement brief

Which campaigns bring enquiries we can actually help with?

Decision
Where to investigate campaign spend and landing-page quality.
Website signal
A confirmed enquiry submission, with an agreed campaign source where it is available.
Business outcome
Whether the enquiry matches your services, location and project requirements.
Owner
Marketing reviews the source. Your team records whether the enquiry is suitable.

Agree the definition of a suitable enquiry together. A submitted form can still be spam, a supplier pitch or a project outside your scope.

Four signals. Four different meanings.

A button click is not an enquiry.

Imagine someone arriving from a campaign and asking about a website project. These moments need distinct definitions, so activity is not mistaken for a business outcome.

Illustrative enquiry journey · no campaign or client results

  1. Interest

    Clicks the enquiry button

The visitor chose to take a next step. They may not have seen or completed the form.

    How we check it

Confirm the event belongs to the intended control and is not also counted as a submission.

  2. Opportunity

    Sees the enquiry form

The form opened successfully. That helps distinguish an interface issue from someone choosing not to continue.

    How we check it

Check the event against the visible form state, including mobile and repeat opens.

  3. Website outcome

    Sends an enquiry successfully

The website accepted a submission. This is different from a submit-button click or a failed validation attempt.

    How we check it

Test successful, invalid and failed requests. Confirm a success is recorded once and check delivery separately.

  4. Business outcome

    Becomes a suitable conversation

Your team assessed the enquiry against agreed criteria. This information usually lives outside website analytics.

    How we check it

Agree how the outcome is recorded and matched where appropriate. Report unmatched or unknown sources clearly.

Use agreed, non-sensitive event details. Names, email addresses and free-text enquiry messages do not belong in analytics events.

Turn a report into a useful next question

The numbers should help you choose what to investigate.

A pattern is a starting point. We help your team read the evidence alongside campaign intent, enquiry quality and the limits of the setup.

If you notice

Plenty of form opens, few successful submissions.

A useful next investigation

Check whether the form works, the request feels proportionate and the next step is clear. Review the measurement before assuming customers are dropping out.

If you notice

More enquiries, but few suitable projects.

A useful next investigation

Review campaign targeting, search intent and the promise on the landing page. Volume alone cannot tell you whether the activity is useful.

If you notice

A promising channel with very little data.

A useful next investigation

Keep the uncertainty visible. A handful of enquiries is a reason to investigate, not enough on its own to make a large budget decision.

A setup your team can look after

Clear definitions. Tested events. Named owners.

We agree the scope, implement the measurement and test the important journeys. You receive a record of what is being measured, where it appears and what to recheck when the website changes.

Your accounts, your access

Confirm account ownership and appropriate access before implementation. Record the platforms, dependencies and any additional integration work in scope.

A shared event record

Document each event’s purpose, trigger and exclusions. Include the agreed consent behaviour and any reporting gaps; policy decisions stay with your business and advisers.

A practical check after changes

Identify who rechecks forms, campaign links and events after website changes. Agree ongoing reporting or monitoring separately if your team needs it.

Existing data can only answer what the previous setup recorded. A repaired event does not recreate missing history.

Your questions

Before we connect the dots.

Can you work with our existing analytics setup?

Yes. We first review the accounts, website and available data, then agree what to keep, repair or add. Existing account ownership, platform access and consent settings shape the implementation. A new dashboard is not always needed.

Will we be able to attribute every enquiry?

No. Consent choices, device changes, browser restrictions and offline conversations leave gaps. We explain what each report can support and where the source is uncertain, rather than treating attribution as a complete record of every customer journey.

Do we need a CRM to get started?

Not always. An agreed way to record which enquiries are relevant can be a useful first step. Connecting a CRM or offline outcome to advertising platforms is additional work that needs its own access, data handling and scope review.

What should we include in an enquiry?

Send your website address, the question you cannot currently answer and the platforms you use. For example: “We can see form activity, but cannot tell which campaigns bring suitable projects.” We arrange account access separately; do not include passwords or customer records.

Why do analytics and advertising reports show different conversion totals?

Platforms can use different attribution rules, reporting windows and definitions, while consent and browser behaviour affect collection. Compare what each system counts before assuming that one total is a complete record.

Can tracking be tested before a campaign goes live?

Yes. Use an agreed test journey to check that the intended actions are recorded once and with the expected details. Then compare the website behaviour with the relevant platform's diagnostics and reports.

Start with the question you cannot answer

What do you wish your marketing reports could tell you?

Share your website, the tools you use and the decision you want to make. We can discuss the measurement gaps and a useful first scope.
